A coach party of 50 steam lovers has just returned from an enjoyable long weekend visiting two of Devon’s most popular heritage railways.
Stopping at the Anchorage Hotel, Babbacombe, the four-day trip included visits to the Paignton & Dartmouth Railway and the South Devon Railway at Buckfastleigh, where members of the group were able to see the work being carried out on locomotives in the engineering workshops.
These trips, which are organised by the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway Society, have become a popular annual event and rumour has it that a visit to some of Scotland’s heritage railways is on the cards for next year!
